The History of Walnut Creek Foods Deli Meats & Cheeses
At Troyer’s Dutch Market, we’re committed to bringing our customers the best in quality and flavor. That’s why our deli proudly features Walnut Creek Foods deli meats and cheeses—a trusted name with deep roots in Ohio’s Amish Country.

From Amish Country to Your Table: The Story of Walnut Creek Foods

The story of Walnut Creek Foods begins in the scenic hills of Holmes County, Ohio, one of the largest Amish communities in the United States. In 1977, founder Mark Coblentz launched the company with a vision to supply local stores and restaurants with fresh, trustworthy food products. Working out of his garage in Walnut Creek, Ohio, Mark made early deliveries with a single pickup truck.

Fueled by values of honesty, service, and stewardship, the business grew rapidly throughout the 1980s. As demand increased, Walnut Creek Foods expanded into full-scale distribution while remaining loyal to its roots—partnering with small producers, family farms, and trusted processors throughout the region.

By the 1990s, the company had established its own deli slicing operations and began developing its signature Walnut Creek label—a name that quickly became synonymous with high-quality meats and cheeses. Their commitment to freshness, consistency, and customer satisfaction helped make Walnut Creek Foods a household name across the Midwest.

Today, Walnut Creek Foods operates a modern facility in Millersburg, Ohio, distributing products to stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, and beyond. Despite its growth, the company remains family-owned and deeply committed to its mission: serving people and honoring God by stewarding resources well. It’s a legacy we’re proud to carry forward at Troyer’s Dutch Market.
